Metropolitan Bangkok

Part of the COMO Hotel group, the Metropolitan is touted as a chic, business hotel with two diverse restaurants and spa.

Certainly on the design side it was true to its word. Clean minimal lines throughout and accented with original Thai woodwork and artwork. Its meant to be calming and it certainly keeps the frantic pace of Bangkok far outside.

The challenges, as I was to find along our journey, was that of shooting in areas that had been specifically designed to have low key lighting. Textures and points of interest would be highlighted with small spot lights which makes for interesting light readings. Either you shoot for the highlights and fill in with flashes, or you keep it moody and allow the highlights to burn out a little.

Which is best? To be honest, it depended on the mood of the hotel and wether I wanted it to come across clean and bright, or dark and moody.
