Mandarin Oriental Dhara Dhevi

Sitting just outside the Old Town in Chiang Mai, is the sprawling ‘town’ of this hotel. It was created as a mirror image of an ancient town centred around rice paddys and official buildings. The architecture has been kept to the orginal style, thus all the chalets are on the perimeter facing inwards. Walkways and avenues lead you inwards to the dining areas, pools, spas and shopping area. It is breathtaking not only in size, but in re-creation of the original designs encompassing modern 5 star luxury.

Two days were all we had, hence I had to focus on certain areas only. The interior of the chalet we were reviewing, and the exterior views, details.

I used my speedlights in all the interior shots as the rooms were cool and dark. Balancing the natural light then compensating with the flashes was quite a challenge at times, especially as it was partially cloudy and the light was constantly changing!

Overall I was happy with most of the shots, although I would have liked to spent more time on other areas as well.
